Watch: 'Understanding Neurodiversity' talk series – Fourth episode on Dyspraxia

In a compelling webinar part of The Duke's Club Neurodiversity series, Sarah Warley, founder of The Key Clinic, and Anna Trundle, a senior biomedical practitioner, shed light on the complex world of dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). This presentation delved into the nuances of dyspraxia, a condition often misunderstood and overshadowed by other neurodevelopmental disorders. Sarah and Anna meticulously described how dyspraxia impacts motor skills, coordination, and daily activities, emphasising that it does not affect intelligence.

The webinar outlined a variety of symptoms, from gross and fine motor challenges to social and emotional difficulties, illustrating the multifaceted nature of dyspraxia. They highlighted the critical need for early detection and intervention, as well as the limitations and lengthy wait times often associated with obtaining a diagnosis.

Importantly, Sarah and Anna presented The Key Clinic’s innovative approach to treating dyspraxia, which goes beyond compensatory techniques and seeks to address its root causes through neurodevelopmental exercises and auditory integration training. They shared compelling case studies and testimonials that spoke to the effectiveness of their methods, portraying a hopeful outlook for individuals dealing with dyspraxia. This session not only educated attendees on dyspraxia but also offered practical strategies and hope for significant improvement.
